What is hydro excavation used for?
Hydro-excavation uses pressurized water to turn hard soil into a liquid slurry so that a high-pressure industrial vacuum can remove it. This excavation method offers significant benefits: it is safe, environmentally friendly, and allows for precise digging when there are sensitive objects, such as utilities, in the soil that shovels or hard equipment can’t safely impact. The water jet often won’t even damage tree roots. Vacuum trucks are commonly used for potholing, trenching, tunneling, contamination spills, power pole anchoring, and utility locating.
Utility Locating
Utility potholing is a method that Emeritec uses with the Hydro-Vac to excavate safely right to an unknown depth for a utility. This effective dig can save our customers from damaging an unknown or known utility with a machine, shovel, or any other machinery.
Boring Clean Up
Services
With large-scale boring, there can be a mess left in the trench, hole, and other land excavations. With the vac truck, you can keep the hose on a steady vac mode that consistently keeps the material out of the way from the customer. Also, the vacuum truck can take care of most land material and debris.
Power Poles & Anchoring
When there is a utility located around a power pole, Emeritec will safely excavate a new pole location for a power pole change out. If the anchor supporting the pole has had its wear as well, Emeritec will excavate a new location for this. Typically, a pole depth in the ground is 10% plus 2ft of the new power pole's length. An anchor can range from a 7-9ft dig.
Trenching Services
Trenching services have grown to be one of the most popular methods to dig around or locate sensitive wires, pipes, and other utilities. Being able to dig without disturbing the ground around the dig site also adds a benefit in areas that may have sensitive systems or ground nearby.
